5+ A Day, News from the UK
Last week I received an email from Lake aka Urbantramper, updating me on his recent work over in the UK. Here’s an exciting new song, a video and new art work for you all to enjoy.
In November 2007, Lake and Eli (one quarter of 10,000 times glorious) moved to Cambridge in Brittan. The pair quickly advertised for band members and found two Englishmen and an Irishmen willing to come over for a jam. It all went extremely well and the trio filled the vacant positions in 10,000 Times Glorious. In March they had their first gigs at local collages in Cambridge supporting Eileen Rose.
On May 26, Urbantramper & 10,000 Times Glorious released a new single titled ‘Wishing Bliss’. The single comes with a b-side and a cute new music video featuring a walking broccoli. Soaked in Lake’s wonderful acoustic guitar and melodically driven by a catchy chorus about eating broccoli, the track is another fine example of Lakes passion and ability to write beautiful pop songs. It would be extremely easy to pedal some sort of environmental message, but Lake keeps that firmly in the background, opting to spread love and peace through his music instead off blatantly reminding us to be eco-friendly. Below is the wonderful video for ‘Wishing Bliss’, it’s very amusing and looks like such fun.
The band is now going on tour to promote the new single. After three London shows, they are off to France and Germany. It’s then back to the UK for more shows, then home to New Zealand for summer via Australia. Busy times lie ahead, but it will be good to have them home for summer to sing their wonderfully charming pop music into all our tanned, semi-sunburned ears.
