We All Scream For Ice Cream
I normally find a lot of this style of indie pop extremely boring, but Reporter’s simple melodies and infectious pop hooks have me smitten all over. Much like their photos above, the band radiates a playful vibe, spelling out summer and reminding us what it’s like to have a whole day of sunshine (man, I can’t wait for an Auckland summer). I’ve been playing their songs on the radio for a few weeks now, and the more I hear the more I’ve become obsessed.
Their song ‘Wild Dogs’ has become my personal favourite. Taken from the Portland band’s yet to be released debut album, it has an excellent harmony, joined together and balanced between the lovely voices of May, Freddy and Brian. The art work and album name have not yet been made public, but the band have uploaded a bunch of songs from it to their Myspace. In a Myspace blog posted in late May, the band said the album will be released whenever they feel like it, but they hope that it will be in the next few months. It’s now July so it can’t be far away.
