Circuit Benders
Some people are going to absolutely love this, the rest of you are gonna fucking hate it. So if you haven’t left a comment on EMJ before then now is your time to do so.
Power Pill Fist is an experimental electronic group from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They make Crystal Castles sound extremely mainstream, and I mean that without any disrespect to CC. Imagine the noise from your favourite Atari or Sega game, and then imagine what would happen if the circuit broke a million times over and some freaky guitar sounds were thrown in just for some extra fun. This music is mind blowing, and sounds like nothing I have ever heard before. Power Pill Fist has released two complete albums of this crazy stuff, the second one titled Kongmanivong released in February this year, clocks in at just over fourty-two minutes.
They even play this stuff live. In 2008 Power Pill Fist played at South by South West, in a showcase show with the likes of Black Moth Super Rainbow, Kid Dakota and Experimental Aircraft.

This isn’t music, it’s just irritating noise.
I prefer music with substance.
Crystal castles may be more mainstream, but at least there’s something to it. I can appreciate the mad “circuit bending” skills, but it’s not my cup of tea.

Crytal Castles aren’t mindblowing. I can’t really be bothered listening to the CD - maybe I need to listen to it again. It’s kinda safe which is fine but you know - blah. wibble wibble noisey bit thing. I guess I was a bit pissed that the album wasn’t intense crazy popcrunchatarithing like that track xxxccuszese me or however it’s spelt. I was BUMMED OUT.
I like the other band Black Moth Super Rainbow a lot more than powder puff pill!
