Karen O

A couple of weeks ago, Karen O debuted her new side-project to an audience in New York City. Subsequently a few demos have been made available via The Music Slut.

The tracks are vastly different from her work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Going under the name Native Korean Rock, the tracks have a stripped back acoustic sound layered by a scattering of drums. It’s important to remember these are only very rough demos, so the final product (if there will ever be one) could end up sounding vastly different. However no one can deny the fact that Karen O’s voice is simply beautiful, her spell-binding Yeah Yeah Yeahs shriek has been contained in a continuous melody, something she does very well.
