Down Deep Dancing With Seaweed

It’s not often that good music appears in my inbox, but yesterday to my pleasant surprise, I received an email from this wonderful band. Fig Leaves is a London based project of experimental, tropical electronic noise artists Ivan Misquita-Rice and Sam Soper. Together the pair experiment in the studio, weaving their own musical magic. The result is sometimes abrasive, but often a catchy melodic mess of eclectic squeals and driving noise.

The band describe their music as “a dark funk sci-fi soundtrack to a film as yet made, kind of a foggy vibe but something you can get down to as well.” They’re pretty much spot-on and I can’t think of a better way to describe them.

Fig Leaves has recently completed their debut album and have a very limited number of copies. In pure indie fashion, they only have a run of 25 CDs and 25 cassettes. You can purchase them from the band direct; visit their myspace page for more details. They are a strictly limited release so you must get in quick, they could even be gone already. If you miss out on that one, stick around, cose the guys are about to unveil a whole new set of recordings; they promise it will be available from next week.
