Pay Attention

I know I’ve been harping on about this band, but that’s because they consistently come up with good material. A couple of days ago Sharpie Crows sent me their brand new EP titled Landlords Get What They Deserve and it is fucking awesome. Casey Latimer’s guitaring is again an absolute highlight, tiptoeing between soaring riffs and rebounding distortion. Sam Bradford’s uncontrollable ranting which has always been somewhat mysterious, is again blended nicely into the mix, sitting perfectly on top of the thundering rhythms created by Josh Jenkins (bass) and Jackson Hobbs (drums). This is the perfect follow up to their début album We Fought The Great White Whale, released earlier this year, and shows the band is taking steps to become a more accomplished force.
Add to this a growing reputation as one the counties best live bands, Sharpie Crows deserve far more respect than they get credit for. There’s been talk around Auckland recently about a legendary show at Whammy Bar (details not entirely known) and their name has been thrown about on local music forums. It’s time to take Sharpie Crows seriously!
The EP is not in public distribution, however you can download a track from it below. The rest of the EP can be heard on the band’s myspace page.
