Not The Worst Band In The World

Way back when, my first introduction to Over The Atlantic was via an American music blog calling their song ‘Fly To The States’ the most boring song ever made. While I don’t agree that it’s the most boring song ever made, I do agree that it’s not the most exciting. A few years later I finally saw Over The Atlantic live and to my surprise they were very good.
Having paved their music career mostly in countries other than New Zealand, the band have now returned home to play some shows and to release their new album Dimensions. A Low Hum label manager Blink, has been kind enough to give us the first single from the album. Titled ‘Loveless Devotion’ the song surrounds itself in ambient noise, jangly pop chimes and softly delivered vocals, before ending with a sweetly layered guitar riff that captures the band’s live ethos perfectly.
They played in Wellington recently to celebrate their homecoming and photographer Sam Conaglen took some amazing photos for us. They are playing in Auckland this Saturday night at Whammy Bar with Disasteradio and The Bemsha Swing. They have visited twelve countries and played over one hundred shows since they last played in Auckland, we recommend you head along.
