BFF For Life

On the weekend we had a house party at the amazing apartment we were house sitting on K-Rd. I got talking to a friend of a friend who was from New York and she told me she was great friends with Matthew from Fluxblog. We talked a bit about music and she told me that her and Matthew were huge fans of twee. It made me realise that we haven’t posted much music lately that would appeal to people of that persuasion, so this afternoon I dug through my computer and decided to post about the wonderful Best Friends Forever.

Best Friends Forever is a three-piece band from Minneapolis, Minnesota who make twee indie-pop with cute twists of post punk energy. Their ‘oh so cute’ myspace page declares, ” Jessica Lee Seamans and Briana Jennifer Smith are celebrating their 13th year of friendship in 2008″ and to celebrate they will eat fig bars until they pass out. The pair have been writing songs since their friendship began, and together with fellow BFF Joe Rand they craft songs about school yard shenanigans, boyfriends, lonely literary figures and the forefathers of the American dream. Catchy, cheeky and toe-tappingly good, Best Friends Forever have a dancey-vibe that gets fans swaying and singing along to their delightfully intellectual lyrics.

Despite writing and recording songs for a number of years, the band only released their first full length album in January 2007. Titled Romance Conflict Adventure, the album can be bought very cheaply from No Idea Records. The album has also been re-released in 2008 as a package deal, containing the album plus some songs from the band’s first split tape and songs from their 7″ record. The re-release is extra special because it showcases Bri and Jes’s song writing when they were just 19- 20 years old.
