Cry With Me

I’ve never really been a huge fan of Antony and the Johnsons, but when I heard the first single ‘Another World’ from their newly released album The Crying Light I instantly fell in love with it. In his beautifully classical voice, Antony Hegarty sings about living in a world of peace, free of war and where nature is preserved and maintained in purity. It is a passive protest song in the vain of early Neil Young, with inspiration coming from the heart. With this song Hegarty opens up and finally reveals his talents as a truly great singer songwriter. He and the Johnson’s have already picked up the Mercury Prize for their previous album I Am A Bird Now and while many bands fade after winning the prize, they have not. This is simply magical.
