Show Us Your Humanimal Face

Real animals roar, hiss and howl; humanimals make crazy theatrical chamber rock. Death is Not A Joyride like to dress-up and dance around in parks and playgrounds, entertaining small children and grown-ups with their wacky fashion and rather obtuse music. The Texas band combine dark gothic melodies with quirky lyrics, somehow channelling the music of An American Chinese, The Dresden Dolls and The Polyphonic Spree into a remarkably ramshackle sound.
The band dropped their debut album titled The Human Zoo in May last year to a reception of mixed reviews from local and international media, however the concept album themed around caged animals representing different human emotions deserves a bit more credit. It is playful and fun and with the band’s influences firmly kept in check (especially Amanda Palmer) it has a charm that is hard to ignore. The band definitely deserve credit for their costumes, they are very cool indeed; check out their myspace photos for a full selection of humanimals.
