Please, Can I Climb Out Your Window?

If you were ever wondering what happened to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah then the news is that the band is on a semi-permanent hiatus. They played their last show in New York on February 13 and have abandoned plans to go into the studio and record their third album. But it’s not all bad news, introduce yourself to London’s Fanfarlo; a band that sounds very similar to CYHSY with elements of Arcade Fire and The Killers.

Due to self-release their debut album titled Reservoir in the coming months via their myspace and band website, Fanfarlo is gearing up for a big year ahead. Fronted by Swedish musician Simon Balthazar along with a five piece band, Fanfarlo create spastic indie rock that could easily become a world-wide hit. In the same way CYHSY became a sensation, through a self-released record, Fanfarlo’s catchy melodies and larger than life percussion together with an array of unconventional instrumental arrangements forge a rather likeable classic indie sound.

Since forming in 2006 the band has released three singles and a split 7″ with fellow Londoners Sleeping States. Their exciting debut album, recorded at Tarquin Studios in the USA and produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) brings the power of the their early singles together with a richer, fuller sound. In the coming months the band will be touring the UK along with Snow Patrol, before heading to the USA for four shows at SXSW.
