New Vivian Girls song

Lake House

In their typical ramshackle, purported punk Shangri Las-meets-Ronettes-meets-New Wave pop fashion, one of my favourite Brooklyn exports, Vivian Girls (named after outsider artist Henry Darger’s 15,000+ page space fantasy novel) have unleashed a new song. Released under Almost Ready‘s Volume 8 of The World’s Lousy With Ideas 7″ series, the song kicks off with a bang, filling two minutes with noisy, jangly pop bliss. Their layered choral vocals are dutifully kept and while it’s a more monochromatic effort than their previous work in their magnificent self-titled debut album, it still works a treat and leaves me amping for more. The trio recently said on their blog that they will be recording their new album in March at the Distillery in California.
