Sleeping On The Forest Floor

It’s not very often that you come across a band from such a far away country; in fact I’m not even entirely sure where the Faroe Islands are in the world. Wikipedia tells me they lie in the Norwegian Sea, half way between Iceland and Scotland.

Formally a five-piece, now it is just Emsa and Salsa in the band. Their lo-fi music that is yet to meet a polished brush, sits somewhere between Bat For Lashes and Moron Says What?!, with edgy synths and strained vocals dispersed between heavy beats and crunchy static noise. The band’s lo-fi recordings are quite charming, distorting when the bass notes drop and straining under the weight of some of the higher pitch synth cords. Throughout some of their songs there’s evidence of other twinkly sounds, making the music all very dreamy and inspiring.

Dinosauruxia formed in 2007 and in between playing live shows across Scandinavia they have recorded a whole bunch of demos (many of them are available for free download from the bands last.fm). They have also released a ten track demo CD titled Triceratopsin Paluu which can be bought from last.fm. That’s about all I can tell you.
