Turn The Signals From Blue To Red

Woo! The Horrors are back, but not as you knew them before. The band has released the first single from their upcoming album titled Primary Colours and it sounds like nothing previously heard on the band’s stunning début Strange House.
The single titled ‘Sea Within A Sea’ is an eight minute long psychedelic indie rock song. All the speedy punkiness of the first record has been trimmed to steer the band in a much more commercial direction, reeling themselves in and taming their more erratic ways to produce a much more polished record. It’s probably likely to disappoint many fans of the first album, but the single should not be overlooked. If you try hard enough you can hear elements of Strange House, they just lie much deeper below the surface than before. You’ll hear it around the three minute mark just before the song breaks into an 80s inspired synth jam that continues throughout the remainder of the song.
The Horrors should be applauded for this first single, it’s brave and definitely sends fans a clear signal that the new album will be very different from the last one. Primary Colours is due for release on May 4.
