New Mars Volta song
The first single from The Mars Volta’s new album Octahedron (out June 22) has been released. ‘Cotopaxi’ is a loud, fast, fresh, funky song from the Volta, in the vein of their previous work. Cannibal Cheerleader argued it sounds “less in-your-face” than their previous album The Bedlam In Goliath delivered, but I think it has just as much vibrancy and instant aggression, if not more so. It definitely sounds less scary and doomsday-ish than Bedlam. It somehow signals a more upbeat approach. Though TMV could never be a cherry-faced pop band, this could possibly be the most accessible they’ve ever been. What do you think?
