Interactive Music Video?

What a score! Not only do we love Cold War Kids and their eclectic, experimental rock and roll but now they’ve come up with one of the most exciting, interesting music video concepts ever! In what is said to be the first interactive music video, Cold War Kids’ video for their song ‘I’ve Seen Enough’ (from September’s Loyalty To Loyalty) enables viewers to choose what instrument each band member plays throughout the video and how each band member will play it, or even mute a member if they wish. The colours above represent the choices you can click on.
When I first watched the video the setting that came up was almost reggae-ish, with a mellowed-out guitar part and gentler drums chopping with simple vibraphone. My favourite setting is with the hammond organ, distorted vocals, tambourine and shaker (later changed to hard-hitting drums) topped off with some weird synth line. It’s like turning Cold War Kids slightly Muse-ish! This is one sure fire way to get people watching your video many times as they play it over and over whilst selecting their signature CWK sound.
Click on the links below to watch the video, download the original MP3, or listen to four different premixed versions through a special player on the band’s myspace, including “original”, “acoustic”, “electro punk” and “dubby”. Finally, the internet being used as it should!

MGMT have done something like this before with Electric Feel but a bit more funkier. The future hopefully!

So, I turned their record on again.
They STILL haven’t played New Zealand, but will they sell out in NZ?
They’re my favourite band, and have been since iTunes made St John from the Robbers and Cowards album on single of the week.
If you like the Cold War Kids, you need to find their Mulberry St EP, and their Acoustic at the district release.
