Those who are poor and drowning in the recession celebrated student hardship with a night of good music and debauchery on Friday night. Organised by Victoria University’s student radio station The VBC, they flew in Street Chant from Auckland and Sets from Wanganui to join the party.  EMJ photographer Carmen Gaffney captured the fun, but unfortunately she didn’t get any snaps of Street Chant.

We reviewed Kittentank’s debut album ‘Post Modern Hoe-Down’ on EMJ last year and we’ve heard great things about Sets from Die! Die! Die! guitarist/vocalist Andrew Wilson.  The tracks on his myspace page sound pretty rad too.

Sarah and I (Nick) talk with Frank (the man behind Kittentank) every Friday at around 6pm live on The VBC 88.3FM. If you live in Wellington then tune in; if you’re outside of Wellington you can listen online.
