The Tactile Truth

A friend of a friend got in touch with me one day, and offered his music for my ears. He names his project after the combination of a prevalent animal and the tactile instruments with which humans experience a sense of touch. Fox Hands is a timid, noisy, jittery kaleidoscope of colourful sounds escaping from a man named Adrian Todd Webb who lives in Virginia, US. His music can perhaps be likened to other topically lo-fi natured artists who instill an old-time simplicity beset with a futuristic technological fascination, resulting in an otherworldly sound. Very much independent, his bursting, rubbery, blinking video for his song ‘Listen To The Walls’ is a fascinating escapade into exploring visually the messy collage of his sounds. Close ups of textures blurry like his voice, the visual effect starring in the video reflects the bend-it-’til-it-breaks rubbery and fuzzy guitar technique played throughout the song. The drums echoed in the blinking frame shifts, it’s another lo-fi troubadour exercising his wit and charm with fantastic results.
