Riding A Wicked Sugar High

Electro punk melodies meet spastic new wave rhythms, creating a cross between The Rapture and Late Of The Pier. Eat Sugar’s musical combination ushers in a new wave of dance punk, taking over from their ageing contemporaries who look to be moving towards other forms of electro noise and experimental disco.
Formed in Cincinnati in 2006, Adrian Bogosian (vocals), Jim Reynolds (bass/synth), Greg Poneris (Drums) and Mike McBride (synths) are attempting the relive the height of new-wave, when the synths took over; when bands like Devo and The Human League had the world at their feet. They’re extremely dedicated to making it work, based around the yelp-y vocals of lead singer Bogosian, who brings a flamboyant intensity to the band. His speed-laced vocals roll into a balling frenzy of chromatic synths and jittery rhythms, unleashing some red hot punk style grooves.
Eat Sugar released their debut self-titled EP in 2007 and is poised to release their second EP titled It’s Not Our Responsibility on September 1, 2009. The entire 7 track EP has been uploaded to the band’s myspace, head over and take a listen.
