Alps of New South Whales

Lo-fi Landscape Pop

Some people may remember Chris Hearn from the now infamous A Low Hum Tour days, which sadly finished in 2007. Alps toured the country with So So Modern, Collapsing Cities and Frase+Bri on the September 2006 tour. He is returning to New Zealand later this month, with a brand new set of songs and his new self-titled album.
Known for his DIY, “Freegan”, world tours, Alps of NSW has been a huge inspiration to many artists, including Wellington’s Snowfield. The two musicians released a split 7″ together in 2008, which has now sold out. Playing an ensemble of instruments all on his own, Hearn weaves drums, keyboard, guitar and vocals into an airy lo-fi drone, creating a naturalistic experience that encompasses both dreamy bedroom pop and the harsher elements of experimental noise.
You can see Alps of New South Whales on the following dates:
30 July- Sky Bears Cuddle Den, 21 Mercury Lane, Auckland
31 July- Happy, Wellington
1 August- Media Club, Christchurch
Alps of New South Whales- Myspace

It’s a flat just off K rd (I’m not sure if it’s #10 or #21 Mercury Lane?)that’s been host to some awesome noise shows recently … Alps is playing w/ Golden Axe and Stress Cadet. Kicks off at 7.30pm.
