Hypnotic Braincells

Bleeding psychedelic rock from their veins, Birds Of Avalon combine crunchy rock riffs, whimsical guitar rhythms and elements of post rock, to etch their mark on popular music. The five-piece band from North Carolina formed in 2005 out of the ruins of three previous bands, The Weather, Dynamite Brothers and The Cherry Valence. Both guitarists, Cheetie Kumar and Paul Siler, both formerly of The Cherry Valence, married before forming Birds Of Avalon.
In 2007 the band released their debut album. Titled Bazaar Bazaar, it was entirely recorded on 4-track machines. On June 23, 2009, Birds Of Avalon released their second album, titled Uncanny Valley. The album was recorded in Siler and Kumar’s makeshift home studio to an old 3m 16-track tape, which was later mixed to produce the near perfect sounding Uncanny Valley. If you’re a fan of bands like Deerhunter, Experimental Dental School and British Sea Power’s more recent material, then you will most likely enjoy Birds Of Avalon’s moody psychedelic rock.
