Dappled Cities does Animal Collective

It was a very brave move from Australian band Dappled Cities to cover one of the biggest bands (and songs) of 2009, but they pulled it off. Their cover of Animal Collective’s ‘My Girls’ adds a beautiful acoustic touch to the song, stripping away AC’s electronic arrangements to expose the song’s rich vocal harmonies.
Lissy Trullie does Hot Chip

Lissy’s take on Hot Chip’s ‘Ready For The Floor’ has been called all sorts of things, from “rivals, if not tops, Hot Chip’s original version” to “one of the best covers I have ever heard”. The general consensus seems to be that this track is awesome, I’m not to sure about that personally, but you can have a listen. The song appears on her debut EP, Self-Taught Learner.

Elbow does Destiny’s Child

Back in 2004 the Manchester band recorded this cover of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Independent Woman’ for BBC Radio 1. It’s a rather strange cover, Elbow sounds more like an amateur jazz quintet than the Mercury prize winning band they later became, winning the award in 2008.
