The Brunettes new song and EP

Red Rollerskates

The Brunettes released a new song today called ‘Red Rollerskates’ on their myspace page, in the lead-up to the release of their new EP of the same name on August 15. This all comes in the wake of the band’s departure from Sub Pop, citing inadequate promotion on the label’s part. Jonathan Bree said in an interview with Real Groove at the time, “The actual efforts from the label to promote us as a band were minimal – and the lack of communication with us was incredibly frustrating when we would be touring and couldn’t even get them on the phone to discuss something where timing was key.”
The band is now working with The Orchard for digital distribution and are self-releasing their Red Rollerskates EP and upcoming album, which is said to be released in October. They also plan on returning to New Zealand for a nationwide tour this summer.
Check out ‘Red Rollerskates’ on The Brunettes’ myspace page.
