Mystery Man

If you’re a fan of Deerhunter, My Bloody Valentine or The Shocking Pinks then you should check out Dead Mellotron. Making ethereal space pop with industrial sounding drum beats, whimsical vocal harmonies, shoegaze guitars and bursting with synthesiser reverb,  the solo musician known only as Frazier has put together a spellbinding potion that’ll put you in to a pensive musical coma. His songs flutter in the breeze and surf never ending rainbows filled with candy floss and lollipops, slowly turning the sky a deep shade of purple and raining a confetti of blue tinted glass. Beautiful echoes of squashed psychedelia come wrapped in distortion, forming a wonderful cocktail of sound.

The somewhat mystery man from Monroe, Louisiana, has just released his debut EP and the entire thing can be downloaded for free from either his myspace or last.fm. Titled Ghost Light Constellation, it’s hopefully described in the words above. Look out for track six, which is a cover of Beach House’s ‘Saltwater’.
