To some people the word ‘post-rock’ makes them instantly turn away in disgust, but if you’re stupid enough to dismiss the genre all together then you’re doing yourself a major injustice. Take Stationary Odyssey for example, these guys have been making some great music for the past seven years and they’ve uncovered many different ways to keep the post-rock genre interesting.
In November they will release their fourth album Sons Of Boy; their first since Head! Foot! And The Pink Axe back in 2006. In between they released a split CD with Detroit rockers Child Bite. Shawn Knight of Child Bite has come back to help with the new record, along with Chris Schlarb (I Heart Lung) and a long list of various composers and rock musicians, joining forces with Stationary Odyssey’s Aaron Tanner and Brett Siler. Sons Of Boys kicks into overdrive, powering the band into a new dimension coated in white noise and bubbling with the sound of guitars, screeching and squealing their way into microscopic sound waves.

I don’t think these guys could really be clasified as post-rock yo. Post is about huge drumbeats and epic guitars and build-ups and so on. I have post show on RDU (Crimeschurch bNet); sure, I would play this, but alongside a ‘gazey song.
Go in to my head, come back out and tell me I’m wrong.
