Whipped Cream Pourin Like Waterfalls
Last month fantasy electronic artists Logan Takahashi and Nick Weiss released their band Teengirl Fantasy’s long-awaited debut album 7AM on True Panther Sounds/Merok. The Ohio synth ravers’ sound has been coveted since their inception, and can veer from cheeky, quirky electronica to full blown rave-style dance, with synths that sound like lasers emitted from the eyeballs of wasted teenagers. And they haven’t just been busy with their own LP release, they also produced the song ‘Commercial’ on the new Das Racist album Sit Down, Man. Lead single ‘Cheaters’ is an extended dance track warped out of its mind, and while other songs are more succinct they all continue to hold catchiness up as an important trait. Taking the blippiness Crystal Castles also utilise and upbeat rhythms that !!! would be proud of, Teengirl Fantasy imbue a party spirit in everything they produce. Check out their super bubbly earlier song ‘Hoop Dreams’ and the contrastingly more mellow, ambient song from 7AM, ‘Floor To Floor’. And if you want to get to know them more, visit their hilarious angelfire website, with updates written from the perspective of a cute-boy-chasing hyperactive schoolgirl.
